How long is recovery?

Most minor procedures settle within a few days; larger surgeries take 1-2 weeks for initial healing. Swelling typically peaks at 48-72 hours.

Will I need stitches and a follow-up?

Many procedures involve sutures; we’ll schedule removal and a check-up, usually within 7-10 days.

Do I need antibiotics or pain medication?

Pain relief is routinely prescribed; antibiotics are given when clinically indicated (e.g., infection risk).

What can I eat after surgery?

Soft, cool foods for the first 24-48 hours; avoid hot, hard and spicy foods, smoking and drinking through a straw.

How do thermography and fluorescence help?

Thermography detects hidden inflammatory foci, and fluorescence aids visualization of tissues and lesion boundaries - for safer and more precise care.

When will I be ready for the next step (e.g., implant or prosthetics)?

Timing depends on the procedure and healing. We re-evaluate clinically and radiographically; in some cases we coordinate immediate or early steps, in others we wait for full healing.

About Oral Surgery

At Uzunov Dental, care is led by Assoc. Prof. Evgeni Alexiev, a habilitated lecturer at the Department of Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University - Sofia.

We use high-class intraoral X-ray imaging, collaborate with leading radiology labs for CBCT when larger 3D views are required, and are pioneers in thermographic diagnostics in Bulgarian dental medicine. A high-intensity surgical laser, an operating microscope and a fluorescence camera expand our precision and visualisation for modern oral surgery.
